Moving a home in Sunnyvale

Sunnyvale sits between Mountain View and Santa Clara, a short drive down the Peninsula from our base in East Palo Alto. We move 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and townhomes here, from single-story homes to newer townhome complexes. Our own crew packs, loads one of our branded box trucks and sets the furniture back up at the new place.

What to tell us before a Sunnyvale move

Tell us the bedroom count, what is in the garage and anything heavy, like a piano or a home gym. If you are moving into a townhome or condo complex, ask the HOA where the truck can park and whether they need a certificate of insurance. We send the certificate before move day when you ask.

We found no Sunnyvale permit for reserving curb space for a moving truck. The city code does set rules for large trucks on residential streets and for anything left in the street.

A commercial vehicle of 10,000 pounds or more can park in a residential area for up to 5 hours, and longer when it needs the extra time to finish loading or unloading.
A moving container or POD left in the street counts as an encroachment and needs a permit from the City Engineer, who sets the conditions case by case.
