What we move for events

Joshua's Moving moves anything for an event that fits in a box truck: plants and greenery, decor, tables and chairs, lounge furniture, signage, and crated or boxed booth materials. We load at your office, warehouse or storage unit, deliver to the venue, and bring it back when the event ends. If the decor or booth pieces need boxing up first, our packing crew can do that too.

  • Plants, greenery and decorPlanters, potted plants and decor pieces, loaded and unloaded with care.
  • Event furnitureTables, chairs and lounge furniture, taken apart where needed and set where you want it.
  • Booth and exhibit materialsCrated or boxed booth pieces, signage, displays and marketing materials.
  • Office to offsiteFurniture, equipment and supplies from your office to a conference, offsite or company event, and back. Office moves.
  • Storage between eventsShort and long term storage for business clients, so your event kit has somewhere to live.

In October our crews moved a repeat client's plants and greenery from Burlingame down to a resort in the South Bay for an event.

Trade shows at convention centers

At large convention centers, the show's general service contractor runs the loading docks and moves freight from the dock to your booth. A mover like us gets your materials to the place and time your exhibitor kit names, then picks them up again at move-out.

Moscone Center in San Francisco spells this out. Its freight handling rules say the general service contractor or freight handler for the event is responsible for all material handling, that the docks are staffed and managed by that contractor, and that Moscone has no shipping, receiving or storage for show shipments. Trucks may also have to check in at a marshaling yard first.

If the show is at a convention center, read the exhibitor kit before you book anyone. If you run a series of events, keep the kit in our storage between dates and we deliver from there each time.

Say your company has a booth at a Moscone show and the banners, crates and giveaway boxes are sitting in your Palo Alto office. We load the day before your move-in slot, deliver where the kit tells us, and collect everything at move-out to bring back to the office or into storage.

Load-in and load-out on your schedule

Event moves happen when the venue says so, and that is often an evening or a weekend. We move evenings and weekends at no extra charge, so a Friday night load-in costs the same as a Tuesday move.

Picture a Saturday conference at a hotel near SFO. We deliver the stage furniture and signage Friday evening, the planner walks the room before guests arrive, and on Sunday morning the same crew loads it all back up and returns it to storage.

Event moving questions

Do you move trade show booths?
We truck booth materials, crates, signage and displays between your office or storage and the venue. At large convention centers the show's general service contractor handles freight from the dock to your booth, and booth setup follows the show's labor rules.
Can you deliver to Moscone Center?
We can deliver on the time and at the place your exhibitor kit gives you, which may be a marshaling yard before the dock. Moscone does not accept freight outside contracted dates and has no storage for show shipments, so plan pickup for move-out day too.
Do you work evenings and weekends?
Yes. Evening and weekend moves are available for businesses at no extra charge, which helps with load-in and load-out windows.
Can you store our event materials between events?
Yes. We offer short and long term storage for business clients. See our storage services.
Can you send a certificate of insurance to the venue?
Yes. Tell us what the venue needs, including additional-insured or venue-specific certificates, and we send the COI before load-in.
How much does an event move cost?
It depends on how much is moving, how far, and the load-in and load-out times. Most of our commercial projects start at about $2,500. Send the details and we'll quote it.
Which areas do you cover for events?
We take business moves across the Bay Area, including San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, San Francisco, and the East Bay. Our base is in East Palo Alto.
